Sketch to Success: The Power of Architecture within Business

Within the large world of business, architecture has become one of the many pivotal aspects of growing businesses. There are many ways that interlink architecture with business growth, a few of which I will be discussing within this article. Sustainability, travel and tourism, real estate, and urban planning are all crucial topics that I will be delving into.

Tourism: Generating Revenue for Our Economy

Tourism is one of the largest sectors that most countries rely on to boost the growth of the economy whether it is by providing accommodations for hotels, transportation to tourist attractions and even entertainment places. The reason for the tourist attractions becoming so popular within a place comes down to its aesthetics and how it attracts people. For example, when thinking about Paris, France, the most common thought is the Eiffel Tower and as for a place like Australia, we think of the Sydney Opera house, Dubai, Burj Khalifa. These iconic landmarks leave a lasting impression of its breathtaking and unique architecture. Big Ben located in London, England has had ‘around 5.6 million visitors annually, over 500 people an hour’. Also, having a well-designed hotel is wonderful for the hotel industry because an impeccable design for a hotel will attract many people, for example, places such as the Ritz and Claridges and very well known high-end and expensive hotels. Having a great hotel allows the business to generate revenue from rooms, meetings, events, and food. However, there would be no ability to generate any revenue if there were no architects to design these enticing landmarks.

Sustainable Business Growth: Building Green

Building green, also referred to as being sustainable, is an extremely important factor when discussing architecture. Focusing on sustainability opens many doors to help the economy such as efficiency and saving costs, investment, and increased values for properties. By building green, you are designing your building to use minimal amounts of energy for example the use of skylights, placements of mirrors help light last for longer in rooms during the day. Creating lower operating costs little by little means that the less costs needed for buildings, the more you could use for another sector within the economy. Being able to make a building friendly to the environment allows you to find more people willing to invest in your design due to a better reputation and less likely to become obsolete within the architecture industry, having investors is advantageous because they are providing you with financial support which you could use for advertisement and to give yourself a brand image as well as access for expert advice and contacts that they may have. Furthermore, the incorporation of green building practices enhances property values due to the use of premium materials and high-quality construction, making it highly beneficial for the real estate industry.

Real Estate and Urban Planning

Without architects and interior designers real estate would not exist. I would say that real estate is a balance of architecture and pure business knowledge. Architects are able to gather knowledge in order to meet demands and therefore attract as many potential buyers as possible to maximize profits for their business. However, different demands depend on the region that a person is in and demands will change overtime.

Architecture and business are intertwined without a doubt and both depend on each other for success and become a great factor within the growth of an enterprise. Architecture is more than just aesthetics, it is able to create economic growth, help support businesses such as the real estate business and attract people that help generate revenue. Architecture is an extremely important occupation that enhances the quality of our lives as well as being able to address any challenges and create places for individuals to feel comfortable in.
